Lighthouse Activities shine a light on the most practical, scalable and replicable examples of what people around the world are doing to tackle climate change.
Lighthouse Activities are shining examples of action on climate change taking place around the world. Showcasing these activities provides a positive context for international climate negotiations, showing that action on climate change is not only possible but that it is already happening.
The 2014 Lighthouse Activities will recognize climate action in four key areas:
- Action by and for the urban poor
- Action that fosters women’s leadership and empowerment
- Action that is financing climate friendly investment
- Action that uses ICT solutions
Lighthouse Activities: Benefits
The Lighthouse Activities do not carry a cash prize. Instead, a tailored support package focuses on access to knowledge, expertise and networks. Some of the benefits associated with the 2014 Lighthouse Activities include:
- Fully covered participation at the UN Climate Change Conference in Lima, Peru
- A high-level ceremony with senior government and UN officials, development institutions, financial institutions and businesses at the UN Climate Change Conference in Lima, Peru
