The European Climate Foundation
The European Climate Foundation (ECF) was established in 2008 as a major philanthropic initiative to promote climate and energy policies that greatly reduce Europe’s greenhouse gas emissions and to help Europe play a stronger international leadership role to mitigate climate change. The ECF is funded by major multi-year commitments from donors in Europe and the United States. The ECF is part of the international ClimateWorks Network that shares goals, strategies and resources to address the global challenge of climate change mitigation with a global network of aligned organizations.
The ECF team is a highly dynamic group of individuals, combining ambition and passion with a rigorous, results-oriented and analytic approach to work. The ECF’s culture is one of intensity, enthusiasm and mutual support.
The ECF’s Transport Team develops and supports initiatives to reduce the climate impact of vehicles and fuels. This is achieved mainly through funding NGOs or research initiatives, and by convening platforms where civil society and industry can discuss the challenges and potential solutions of the low-carbon transition.
The position – Transport Intern
The ECF is looking for an intern, who would support the Transport Team in developing an impactful programme of work to drive the decarbonisation of the transport system, primarily through innovations in fuels and vehicles. More specifically, the intern would help with organising meetings and outreach events and with the daily administrative tasks of a grant-making organisation. The role involves:

Helping with organisation of meetings and events

Helping with preparation of communication materials

Administration related to projects and events

Administration related to grant-making

Research in support of strategy development

Attending and reporting back on external events on climate policy
Required Skills:

Academic degree in relevant subject

Excellent English language is required, and German or French language is an asset.

Drive and commitment to the issue of climate change and environmental protection

Proven experience in event organisation and administrative tasks

Interest in a EU affairs, with ability and willingness to relate to a political environment

Excellent organisational and time management skills

Team-working skills – This is a highly networked, people-centred organisation. As a small organisation, everyone at all levels is expected to share menial tasks, such as preparations for meetings. Any sense of self-importance will need to be left at the door.

All the basics of outlook, excel, word, powerpoint must be top notch – if you are good at powerpoint that is a real bonus
Compensation: Similar to that of internships in European institutions (Commission, Council and Parliament)
Location:Brussels, with willingness to travel a little (candidates must be in the possession of a work permit for Belgium)
