Applications are invited for the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) Washington Internship Program.
The NPPC Washington Internship Program is designed to give young leaders experience in U.S. agricultural policy – legislative, political and regulatory – at the federal level.
The internship program is offered throughout the year, lasting a duration of three to four months with flexible start and finish dates depending on NPPC’s schedule and the interns’ availability. The internship will provide flexibility for those taking college courses while in Washington, D.C.
Deadlines
NPPC offers internships year-round. Applications must be postmarked by:
- September 1, 2015 – 2016 Spring Internship
- December 1, 2015 – 2016 Summer Internship
- May 1, 2016 – 2016 Fall Internship

Located one block from the Capitol building, the NPPC Washington Public Policy Center is in the heart of the political action on Capitol Hill. NPPC interns have opportunities for professional networking with congressional staff, allied industry trade associations and federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Federal Drug Administration, and Environmental Protection Agency. In addition to an unparalleled experience, our distinguished internship program offers a competitive stipend. While we do not pay for housing, we can provide students with a list of nearby options.
Who should apply?
NPPC seeks students in their junior or senior year of college seeking a degree in animal science, agricultural business, communications, economics, environment, international trade, journalism, nutrition, public policy, or pre-veterinary medicine. Graduate students studying veterinary medicine, law, political science, journalism or agriculture also desirable candidates.
Applicants should also have:
