Junior Digital Media Officer – European Schoolnet

European-Schoolnet-logoEuropean Schoolnet is recruiting a full-time Junior Digital Media Officer, with strong digital and drafting skills.

European Schoolnet is the network of 31 European Ministries of Education, based in Brussels. As a not-for-profit organisation, they aim to bring innovation in teaching and learning to their key stakeholders: Ministries of Education, schools, teachers, researchers, and industry partners.

European Schoolnet is looking for a dynamic and autonomous colleague to join its communications team and support the development and maintenance of several education websites. An essential part of the role is to provide editorial and production support on new digital projects as well as create other communications materials and contribute to social media campaigns. It also includes liaising with the technical team and external designers.

PROFILE AND SKILLS

The applicant should have:

  • A Master degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Communications, digital media, etc…) or a relevant substantial experience

  • Knowledge of web publishing tools, content management system and multimedia editing software

  • Knowledge of how a website is built and how back end integrates into frontend design (to liaise with development)

  • Knowledge of usability and accessibility best practices (W3C, WAI) across multiple platforms

  • Experience in managing social media platforms (writing, monitoring, scheduling etc.)

  • The ability to liaise with designers and technical experts

  • Proven experience in writing and producing content for educational, multilingual websites and social media

  • An excellent command of English, both spoken and written. Additional languages are an asset

  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to juggle priorities and assignments

  • A good work ethic, able to work well in teams and independently, sometimes to short deadlines

Desirable:

  • Participate in business development (proposals, briefs and pitches)

  • Create navigational maps and wireframes

  • Mind mapping of digital projects to assess project scope

  • Knowledge of design good practices

  • Formulate and execute test plans (workshops, interviews and surveys)

  • Knowledge of app development process

  • Knowledge of agile development methodology

  • Keeping up to date with online publishing trends and technology, and sharing this knowledge

  • Basic skills in photo editing

European Schoolnet offers an initial one-year contract governed by Belgian law and subject to renewal depending on project funding, an exciting working environment and various opportunities to evolve.
