EUREKA is an intergovernmental network that promotes and supports transnational research and development activities, involving small businesses and large industry. To support EUREKA’s mission of strengthening industrial competitiveness through innovation, the EUREKA Secretariat, based in Brussels, is looking for a PUBLICATIONS OFFICER.
The Publications Officer plans, writes and edits publications, and coordinates their design and dissemination. S/he writes the storylines and content that effectively target audiences, from the business R&D community to policymakers and network members. S/he takes a lead role in the review, development and implementation of an annual publications plan. S/he is an outstanding writer. S/he is able to write targeted messages, often to tight deadlines, that engage readers, advance arguments, and inspire action. The post holder excels at distilling sometimes complex scientific content into simple, clear prose and also understands the value of visual elements in telling a story.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- University degree level in a relevant subject, or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in the field of editorial, with English as a principal language.
- Significant experience in project management (including budgetary aspects), print-production management and scheduling.
- Fully conversant with Microsoft Office tools; knowledge of desktop publishing software and content management systems is an asset.
- A thorough understanding of the technical aspects of commissioning, producing, printing and disseminating publications is essential.
- Excellent spoken and written English (native level) is essential. A good working command of French is desirable, as is additional knowledge of another European language.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in editorial, journalism, communications or media relations.
- An excellent and versatile writer, able to make the distinction between promotional copy, editorial and report writing.
- A positive and highly-motivated team-player, but with the ability to manage own deadlines and work independently.
