The Delegation of the European Union to Thailand is looking for a Trade and Economic Officerto work for the Trade Section.
JOBCONTENT
Overall purpose :
Will cover subject matters relating to his/her specialisation, with a view of contributing to the tasks and efficient functioning of the Trade and Economic Section at the Delegation and to the implementation, presentation and planning of EC trade policy in the countries under the portfolio of the Delegation. Will act as Section Lawyer.
Functions and Duties :
• Analyse trade policies in the region with particular emphasis on Thailand.
• Assist in reinforcing the relations with relevant trade and economic institutions.
• Liaise with the Thai private sector on trade policies
• Participate in the preparation of relevant briefings, reports, and other relevant documents on trade matters
• Collect information on Thai trade laws and regulations, legislative procedures and decision-making processes
• To be fully aware of Community trade policy matters and stay up-to-date on developments at HQ.
• To advice other Delegation staff as required, where the other’s work touches upon specialised knowledge that he/she holds
• To respond to enquiries from the public or other source relating to specialisation, community trade policy and market access
• Assist in organizing meetings and other events and prepare high level visits
• Assist in trade information activities
• Participate in meetings and other events in the region and report accordingly.
• Provide support to the Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia delegations on EC trade policy questions, as relevant.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
He/she must hold a University degree in law, including preferably studies in international trade law.
EXPERIENCE
He/she must have a minimum of 3 years practical experience in the area of Thai commercial law and/or international trade law, preferably in private practice or with international or government body involved in that field.
