The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is an independent EU body set up in 2008. They enhance Europe’s ability to innovate by nurturing entrepreneurial talent and supporting new ideas. Their mission is to:

The EIT is an integral part of Horizon 2020, the EU’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. Horizon 2020 is a key pillar of the Innovation Union – a Europe 2020 flagship initiative that aims to enhance Europe’s global competitiveness.
The EIT is now organising a call for expressions of interest with a view to establishing a reserve list for Temporary Staff (TA) for the profile of KICs Project Officer. The place of employment will be Budapest, where the EIT seat is located.

The job profile
To further enhance its impact and to incentivize the innovations needed to meet new societal challenges, the EIT plans to gradually expand its portfolio of its 5 Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) to 8 from 2016 to 2020. KICs address major societal challenges by fostering innovation.
The themes to be addressed by the 8 KICs are:
• Climate change mitigation and adaptation
• Digitalisation – Future information and communication society
• Sustainable energy
• Healthy living and active ageing
• Raw materials – sustainable exploration, extraction, processing, recycling and substitution
• Food4Future – sustainable supply chain from resources to consumers
• Added-value manufacturing
• Urban mobility
Reporting to the Head of Unit “Partnerships Management”, the KICs Project Officer will supervise, monitor and assess the portfolio of activities of both existing and future KICs.
Tasks
The tasks of the KICs Project Officer will include:
• Supporting the newly designated KICs in their set-up phase, assessing the KIC Business Plans and amendments and supporting the process of allocation of the annual grants to KICs.
• Coordinating the assessment of the final reports on annual grants submitted by the KICs in terms of operational performance.
• Contributing to the development of quality procedures, indicators and benchmarks for monitoring (and assessment) of the performance of KIC activities and contributing to the continuous monitoring of the KIC portfolio of activities, measuring their results, impact and recommending improvements.
• Providing input to consultations, questions and queries put forward by the KICs and promoting cross-KIC collaboration in cross-cutting areas of particular relevance for the fulfilment of the EIT mission.
• Liaising with the European Commission services and other stakeholders regarding thematic and innovation policy discussions and representing the EIT in meetings with relevant stakeholders.
• Any other tasks corresponding to the grade and function, as deemed necessary in the interest of the service.
