Social Media & Mobilisation Internship – Greenpeace

Greenpeace_logoSocial Media & Mobilisation Internship (fixed term 6 mth contract)

Greenpeace is an international non-profit campaigning organisation aiming to defend people and the planet, as well as promoting peace. They investigate and expose environmental problems, confront those in positions of power and present positive solutions to the planet’s problems.

As part of the digital mobilisation team, you’ll use digital tools like Facebook, Twitter and email to communicate about Greenpeace’s work to both current and potential supporters. You will inspire people to sign their petitions, attend their events or share their articles. Your day-to-day could mean posting on social media, getting stuck-in with discussions about our campaigns, making videos, writing blogs, studying social media trends or coding webpages. Lots of this would depend on your interests or current skills.

You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to think creatively. You will have a passion for making the world a fairer place and an understanding of how digital tools can help create change and influence debates (think #RefugeesWelcome or headline-grabbing petitions).

You will work on a whole range of topics – whether it’s standing up to big corporations threatening the amazon & indigenous communities, targeting David Cameron on air pollution or safeguarding our oceans from profit-hungry companies.

It is their aim to provide a valuable learning experience for our interns. The appointed intern will receive training from an experienced team along with an opportunity to receive and provide feedback both during and after the internship.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate their support for, and belief in, the aims of Greenpeace and be able to commit to the full period of the internship.

Salary: £9.40 per hour (London Living Wage)
Closing Date: 13 June, 2016 – 10:00
