Context:
IOM’s EU Readmission Capacity Building Facility (EURCAP) provides a dedicated and flexible mechanism to assist the EU’s partner countries in areas such as identity management, readmission case management, voluntary return and reintegration assistance, post-arrival assistance to returnees, inter-state dialogue on practical cooperation in return, and data collection and analysis. The project aims to contribute to effective and efficient cooperation between the EU and its partner countries in the field of readmission through short-term capacity building initiatives in the above areas.
Under the overall supervision of the Project Manager and direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing effective and efficient technical and administrative support to the project.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Assist with the implementation of all EURCAP project activities in compliance with IOM internal policies and procedures as well as the requirements of the EU and project co-founders;
- Assist with the maintenance of a database of short-term experts and consultants active in the fields of return, readmission and migration management;
- Assist with the maintenance of EURCAP knowledge management component with the aim to develop a catalogue of resource materials related to return and readmission;
- Assist in monitoring processes and schedules related to the project work plan and spending and, where applicable, assist in the verification of accuracy of documents, reports, etc. to ensure correctness and compliance with relevant guidance material;
- Compile and draft project reports in coordination with the Finance Unit and Focal Points in the partner countries;
- Support the selection, contracting, travel, and monitoring of external experts assigned for various support actions;
- Assist in organizing project events, meetings, and seminars in collaboration with local project teams and external stakeholders;
- Assist in the research, compilation, and drafting of information materials, presentations and other visibility materials for reports, plans, studies, briefings, training, meetings/conferences, etc.
- Proofread documents and edit text and/or numerical values for accuracy, style and adherence to established format standards;
- Perform general administrative tasks to support the project implementation, including the preparation and/or processing of administrative requests/documents (e.g. requisitions, purchase orders, travel requests, contracts, expenditure authorizations, etc.);
- Undertake duty travels and participate in meetings and/or events as required;
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- University degree in Political Science, Migration Studies, International Relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with two years of relevant professional experience, preferably in similar roles;
OR
- Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Working experience in the area of project implementation, monitoring and reporting of multi-country projects is a requirement;
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge on migration and development is an advantage;
- Knowledge of EU institutions and EU migration policies is an asset;
- Excellent drafting and reporting skills is a requirement;
- Excellent organizational skills including experience with the organization of large events and meetings is a requirement;
- Experience in liaison with governmental and non-governmental institutions is an advantage;
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
Languages
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
