The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award equips young people for life. It is the world’s leading youth achievement award and each year over one million young people around the world take part in the Award, in over 140 countries and territories.
The Award is currently engaged in a number of activities to research the Award’s effect on people and communities around the world.
One of the areas the research agenda is focussing on is understanding how the Award benefits a young person’s life by measuring the outcomes of the Award as a well-established, clearly defined, youth development programme. In addition, impact measures developed by The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation (the Foundation) have been well received in most quarters. Reviews of existing research show a strong correlation between the Foundation’s existing nine impact measures and the outcomes of the Award.
In conjunction with this research, the Foundation is also looking to measure the social value and the social return on investment that the Award creates locally and globally.
The results of this ongoing project will be used by the Foundation and wider Award network; this truly is a role which will help shape the future of the Foundation’s work over the coming years.
Who we’re looking for
The research team utilise a combination of quantitative and qualitative data, along with other related academic research and project management skills to support the delivery of the research agenda.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience using these methods, as well as having experience in communicating to internal and external stakeholders. We are also looking for someone who has previous involvement in coordinating regular progress reports and the drafting of publications for specific stakeholder groups in conjunction with the Communications team.
