The City of London Corporation works with UK-based financial and professional services firms to enhance the competitiveness of the City, informing policy and promoting export and investment around the world. The Economic Development Office leads on this work for the Corporation, engaging and collaborating with business and government to ensure the UK remains the best place globally for financial and professional services and delivering growth across the economy.
In the altered context of Brexit and following consultation with industry and policymakers, the City of London Corporation will strengthen its office in Brussels. It will increase resources and appoint a Managing Director to ensure that industry’s voice is heard at the most senior levels during the Brexit negotiations; to influence business as usual; and to put the City in the best possible position to have an ongoing constructive relationship with the EU27.
The Events and Communications Officer will be responsible for developing and delivering a range of high quality events such as seminars, conferences, dinners and roundtables, seeking opportunities to progress the interests of the City of London Corporation’s representation in Brussels. The postholder will take primary responsibility for developing and implementing robust administrative systems that contribute to the effective and efficient working of the events schedule, including database management and budget monitoring.
To meet these challenges, you must be able and willing to work flexibly in a fast-moving environment, sometimes to tight deadlines. You will have strong experience in an events role, excellent communication skills and strong political understanding. Ability to communicate in French, German or other major EU languages would be an asset.
