Transport & Environment (T&E), the leading Brussels-based NGO promoting cleaner transport in Europe, is offering an internship for a period of 6 months, starting on 1 March 2018.
The successful candidate will be working with T&E’s vehicles team, supporting T&E campaigns to help reduce CO2 and air pollutant emissions from light-duty vehicles (cars and vans), promote e-mobility and secure reform of EU vehicle testing laws.
Responsibilities will include:
- Event and meeting organisation. For example, events in the European Parliament
- Research project and report (see further below)
- Preparing presentation materials
- Assisting with online newsletters, writing media material, blogs, etc
- Help with project reporting activities
- Ad hoc research on issues related to emerging issues
- Data analysis on aspects of vehicles
- Maintaining databases.
As part of the internship, the successful candidate will undertake a specific research project in an area related to vehicles. The exact scope of the project will be agreed at commencement but, for example, could include:
- Air pollution emissions
- CO2 standards for cars and vans;
- Electrification of vehicles
- Autonomous vehicles
- Measures for reducing car use
- Policies for encouraging shared vehicles.
Applicants must include a short description of a preferred topic of the project that the candidate would like to undertake including the scope, methodology and expected outcomes.
Ideally the successful candidate will have some knowledge of vehicle emissions, a demonstrable interest in environmental politics, and an aptitude for influencing policy.
Good interpersonal skills are essential as is a good level of English (the working language). Candidates with an engineering background are strongly encouraged to apply, though everyone with relevant skills and interest will be considered.
The position is a full-time one, with a contract running from early March to August. This internship is remunerated with €755 net a month.
