Communications Intern at EuropaBio




EuropaBio works through an outstanding team of motivated and dedicated individuals to promote an innovative and dynamic biotechnology-based industry in Europe. Our members are involved in research, development, testing, manufacturing and commercialisation of biotechnology products and processes. Our corporate members have a wide range of activities: human and animal health care, diagnostics, bio-informatics, chemicals, crop protection, agriculture, food and environmental products and services. The Communication unit of EuropaBio is looking for a motivated student to join as Communications Intern as soon as possible. To apply, please send your resume and cover letter to Catherine De Feyter, Finance, HR & Office Administration Director, by 12 March 2018 (student only).

We have a small but dynamic multinational communications team working on important channels and activities promoting the European biotechnology industry. We are looking for extra support from a reliable and motivated student, ideally studying communications or EU affairs, who is looking for a work placement as part of her/his university studies (i.e. not “convention immersion professionnelle”). The candidate must be a student and the intern agreement or Convention de stage will be signed between your University and Europabio as part of your study.
The ideal start date would be February 2018. You would be working in the EuropaBio offices close to Montgomery Square in Brussels. This internship would provide you with valuable insights, contacts and experience in EU communications, social media, digital media tools, science communications or biotechnology. Please keep in mind that this is a pure communications role, not directly involving work with EU institutions, government public affairs, advocacy, etc.

Expected tasks

  • Media monitoring and daily team news-flash
  • Support with newsletter(s)
  • Update relevant contacts databases (media, Biotech Week, SME Awards, etc.)
  • Assist in website content updating
  • Assist with social media channels
  • Assist with the logistics of events
  • Overall support for communications work

Candidate profile
Essential

  • Must be enrolled at university and require work placement as part of her/his studies;
  • Exceptional English language skills demonstrated through background, years of study, language certificates, etc.;
  • Ability to begin internship ASAP, and not later than February 2018;
  • Reliable, well organised and eager to learn;

Desirable

  • Studying communications, EU affairs or another field demonstrably relevant for the position;
  • Experience with social media management tools;
  • An interest in biotechnology, industry, innovation;

Terms and conditions
An intern agreement or Convention de stage will be signed between your university and Europabio as part of your study for a maximum period of 6 months. Working hours are from 09:00 until 18:00, Monday to Friday, with a one-hour break for lunch. The intern will be entitled to 6 days holiday plus national bank holidays.
