In order to facilitate and to maximise the impact of the humanitarian operations financed by the Commission worldwide and of the EU civil protection activities coordinated by it, the expert will be appointed to the post of humanitarian Technical Assistant (T/A), as Thematic Coordinator, by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection – ECHO.
The expert will be based in the RSO in New Delhi, India. S/He will be required to carry out regular missions in the region and at the request of DG ECHO Headquarters if the need arises, s/he may also be called upon to carry out missions linked to other regions or to Headquarters, or to react to a current or evolving crisis
in another country/region.
The expert will be part of the Global Thematic Coordinator Network working on the
co-ordination of the technical support provided to HQ and in the field and for the promotion of a strategy aimed at rationalising and professionalizing DG ECHO’s approach towards humanitarian action, in order to maximise the efficiency and the impact of the humanitarian assistance provided by DG ECHO. He is designated to provide support in particular in relation to gender and age issues.
