Join the EU Institutions as a lawyer-linguist and apply your legal background and language skills to help shape EU law for 500 million people.

Playing a central role at the heart of one of the EU Institutions you will deal with complex legal texts in your own language and at least two other European languages. You will need a suitable law degree in your main language.

Working in the Court of Justice in Luxembourg, you will be translating judgments, orders, Opinions of the Advocates General and procedural documents.   You will play an important role in the communication between the parties and the judges. You will also give advice on legal terminology and provide legal analysis in cooperation with the Registries and other departments of the Court.

Working in the European Parliament or Council in Brussels or Luxembourg, you will play a key role, being in constant contact with the different actors of the legislative process. You will revise complex legal texts in your main language drafted in at least two official EU languages and give advice on legal drafting. You may also be required occasionally to translate short legal texts, particularly from English or French.

For the Court of Justice in Luxembourg  lawyer-linguists with Danish, Finnish, Slovak, Slovene or Swedish as their main language are required.

For the Council and the Parliament lawyer-linguists with Finnish, French, Portuguese, Romanian, or Slovak as their main language are required.

You can apply from: 09 October to 11 November 2014.

 You can apply to both the Court of Justice and the Council/Parliament, but you can only apply for one language for each profile.
