Call for entries: The Evens Prize for European Journalism 2015

The Evens Foundation is now launching the second biennial Evens Prize for European Journalism, to be awarded in 2015.

This prize aims to reward journalists from the written press whose work contributes highly to making Europe more comprehensible and accessible to a broad audience. The candidates must be journalists living and working in the EU, with a considerable record in reporting and/or commenting on Europe.

There will be two prizes: the Evens Prize for European Journalism, worth €10,000, and the Evens Encouragement Award for European Journalism, worth €5,000. For the latter prize, only journalists up to 35 years old are eligible.

Submitted reports or articles should tackle European issues and must lead to a better or more refined understanding of the European Union and/or its institutions. Ideally, the articles would help to stimulate public debate on visions for Europe (e.g. its integration, its necessity or not, its contemporary strengths or weaknesses, its ideal roadmap, etc).

An external jury composed of high-level international media professionals will select the two laureates. Their criteria will include: journalistic excellence, original reporting, good writing, and the potential impact of the articles on a broad audience.

European journalists who want to follow in the footsteps of Quentin Peel (Financial Times) and Valentina Pop (EUobserver), the laureates of the Evens Prize for European Journalism 2013, are invited to submit their entry before 15 September 2014.
