Project Manager 

For the implementation of an EU-funded project called E-Platform: Telling the real story – Information campaign targeting Somalis and Eritreans in Ethiopia and Somalia.

This information campaign will mainly reach out to Eritrean and Somali refugees in countries of transit and first asylum in Africa, with a view to inform them about the full scope of the perils and difficulties related to irregular onward movements to Europe and about other possibilities to find protection and durable solutions. Ultimately it should enable concerned people to take an informed decision about their plans and about possible onward movements. This campaign will not only rely on traditional media (television, radio and printed material), but will also make extensive use of new, web-based media (e-platform and social media).

The Project Manager, under the supervision of the UNHCR Bureau for Europe and in close cooperation with other competent offices, will supervise two Project Assistants and will be responsible for the overall implementation of the project, including the development of appropriate messages and their dissemination.

Key competencies:

Capacity to develop strategic communication visions, in particular with regard to the use of electronic media (social media, website building and management, content management and web marketing, collaboration with designers in the creation of visual components and other deliverables).

• Solid knowledge of international refugee protection and UNHCR’s mandate.

• Clear understanding of the regional mixed migration dynamics in the Mediterranean region.

• Strong ability to establish efficient working relations and coordinate project personnel.

• Fluency in English is essential.

Duty station:

The Project Manager will be based in Stockholm, but will frequently travel within Europe and carry out a number of missions to Ethiopia and Sudan.

Contract:

UNOPS International Consultancy contract, starting mid-January 2015 up to 31 December 2015 and renewable for an additional 6 months in 2016.
