The Center for Global Development works to reduce global poverty and inequality through rigorous research and active engagement with the policy community.
CGD seeks a college student or recent graduate to support the following areas as a communications intern:
– Assist the communications team with formatting and posting publications and media mentions to the CGD website
– Provide copyediting, proofing, and administrative support to the Deputy Director for Communications and Publications
– Write and edit drafts of blog posts for CGD’s weekly podcast
– Assist the communications team with posting content to various CGD social media
– Support Events Manager in event preparation and logistics
– Assist with data collection, tracking, and analysis for both media and social media
– Perform data entry and database maintenance
– Assist with media, policy and events outreach follow-up by phone and email
– Support special projects and general administrative needs of CGD communications and policy team
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
– Interest in international development and communications
– Enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor’s degree program
– Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
– Flexibility, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment
– Poise, confidence, and outstanding organization and time management skills, with an attention to detail
– Proficiency in written English usage, grammar, and punctuation
– Experience with Microsoft Office. Skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop), Salesforce, and html a plus.
The internship is for a maximum of 30 hours per week, starting January 2015. This is a paid internship offering a competitive hourly wage.
