Job Mission

Under the authority of the Director of the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM) and the Head of Division, the incumbent receives inbound deliveries and stores them in the storerooms according to the procurement processes of the EDQM and ensures that internal deliveries and outbound shipments are handled in compliance with quality and safety standards.

Key activities

The incumbent performs all or a combination of the following duties:

• Receives and stores inbound samples (handles chemical and biological products):

• – at the time of delivery, checks the associated documents (delivery slip, order form, supplier’s documentation);
• -keeps records and ensures storage undersuitablysafe conditions according to the material data sheets and/or safety data sheets;
  • Records and stores samples from the production section or the laboratory under suitably safe conditions;
  • Receives purchases and makes sure when they are received that the delivery slip and the order form match;
  • Returns non-conforming or damaged products;
  • Efficiently manages waste (solvents and chemicals) in accordance with safety standards;
  • Processes sample requests made by the laboratory, the production section and experts:
• – checks the availability of the requested quantities of samples,
• – initiates their transfer to the storage towers,
• -validates requests in the computer system.
  • Keeps the production and distribution sections supplied with the packaging items, in particular 20 kg cases of gel packs;
  • Participates in the weekly unloading of cases of dry ice (25 to 50 kg) and replaces the laboratory’s gas cylinders (90 kg on average);
  • Monitors stocks of consumables and keeps inventory.

Please note that this work requires handling heavy pallets and packages and involves spending several hours per day in the cold storage rooms and/or in laminar flow booths for opening packages.
