Eurochild is looking for a spirited storyteller with digital media interests to assist with internal and external communications. The Communications Intern will work directly with the Communications and Campaign Officer and Head of Communications. Interns are part of the staff team and expected to contribute to the overall work of Eurochild, as appropriate.
Internship period: Mid-September 2015 to March 2016 (with possibility of extension)
Location: Eurochild Secretariat, Brussels
Remuneration: Interns receive a monthly standard remuneration (€750 + monthly transport expenses).
Responsibilities:

Support the production and dissemination of the weekly newsletter for Eurochild members (gathering news from members and EU sources, compiling news items, summarizing and editing.)
- Support the production and dissemination of the monthly e-News Bulletin
- Maintain and update the Eurochild and campaign websites (Typo3/WordPress)
- Support planning and delivery, monitoring and evaluation of social media activity
- Assist with the dissemination of Eurochild’s policy and advocacy work (press releases, press statements, policy positions, etc.)
- Assist the Communications Team in the production of Eurochild’s Annual Report
- Maintain and update the contacts database
- Contribute to communications meetings with review of outreach
- Assist in the preparation and planning of Eurochild Conference 2016.
Qualifications (* are mandatory requirements):
- University degree or relevant experience in journalism, media and/or communications*
- Excellent written and verbal English*
- Knowledge of other EU languages, especially French, is an advantage
- Experience working with content management systems (eg. Typo3 and/or WordPress)*
- Computer literacy (all MS office applications and basic photo editing)*
- Experience of running social media channels for an organisation*
- Enthusiasm to work in a small, interdependent and international team*
- Interest or experience in working on social issues is a plus
- Knowledge of EU institutions is a plus
