You are an enthusiastic and convinced European eager to contribute to the promotion and representation of the Dutch pension system in Brussels. You already have experience in dealing with the European institutions and with people from different nationalities and political backgrounds. You are fluent in Dutch and English, proficiency in other European languages is welcomed.
The Dutch Pension Funds are looking for an Advisor European Affairs (32- 40 hours a week), based in Brussels, to cooperate with the Head of the Brussels Office on their advocacy towards the European institutions and in their endeavour to promote occupational pensions based on collective agreements and risk-sharing. You are ready to contribute to providing their technical expertise to consultations, coordinate with their Brussels sparring partners, participate in European and national meetings, and speak at conferences at national and European events.
This is an excellent job opportunity for a team player with around 3 to 5 years of working experience in (EU) advocacy, who possesses the diplomatic and analytical skills needed to influence the European pensions agenda. On behalf of the members, Dutch pension funds you will work with pension service providers, European and national pension organisations and other relevant stakeholders on strengthening the voice of Dutch pension funds and their beneficiaries in Brussels.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Execution of the policy agenda of the Federation of the Dutch Pension Funds and preparation of position papers necessary to fulfil the mission and vision of the Federation of the Dutch Pension Funds;
- Advise the Board of the Federation of the Dutch Pension Funds, the Managing Director and the colleagues in the The Hague office on European topics;
- Represent the interests of the Dutch pension sector in our relationships with the European institutions;
- Building and maintaining contacts with European Commission officials, Members of the European Parliament, their assistants and the civil servants from the Permanent Representation of the Kingdom of The Netherlands;
- Follow-up on European pension policy and inform the Federation of the Dutch Pension Funds about relevant developments;
- Representing the Federation of the Dutch Pension Funds in national and international meetings.

Essential competences:
- 3-5 years working experience

Pensioenfederatie (Federation of the Dutch Pension Funds)
On behalf of about 260 pension funds, the Federation of the Dutch Pension Funds (Pensioenfederatie) promotes the pension interests of 5.6 million participants, 2.9 million pensioners and 8.3 million early leavers.
About 80% of the total number of Dutch employees is participant of a pension fund which is associated with the Pensioenfederatie.
The members of the Federation have around 1.0 trillion euros of assets under management.
The Pensioenfederatie started in 2010 as a cooperation between the umbrella organizations for industry-wide (VB), liberal (UvB) and company (OPF) pension funds. On December 19th 2013, VB, UvB and OPF decided to merge into the Pensioenfederatie.
