The Brussels office of the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) is seeking volunteers to provide support at Brussels Forum, which takes place March 20-22, 2015 at the Steigenberger Grand Hotel.
Brussels Forum is an annual high-level meeting of the most influential American and European political, corporate, and intellectual leaders to address challenges currently facing both sides of the Atlantic. Participants include heads of state, senior officials from the European Union institutions and the member states, U.S. Cabinet officials, Congressional representatives, parliamentarians, academics, and members of the media. Volunteers will have the possibility to get first-hand experience of major conference organization on an operational level, attend a high-level political event, and expand their professional network.
Description of tasks: GMF offers the opportunity for highly motivated students/young professionals to be an integral part of the success of Brussels Forum. Volunteers will work closely with GMF staff in the run-up to the event, which includes various administrative and logistical support. Volunteers are also asked to help with a variety of tasks during the weekend of the Forum including but not limited to: security, guest relations, production, transportation assistance, and media. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to participate in parts of the official program.
Qualifications: Fluency in English and preferably another European language; excellent oral communication skills; strong interest in U.S.-European issues; motivation to work flexible hours and handle logistical and administrative work, experience in event management is desirable but not essential. *If you have any preference and/or experience in one of the mentioned fields within the tasks description (security, guest relations, production, transportation assistance, and media) please indicate it in your cover letter.
