Content Strategist
Nature of the tasks:
- Defines and Implements web editorial strategies, schedules, guidelines and tools over the full content life cycle
- Creates content strategy deliverables, e.g. content Inventory and audits, gap analyses, content models, taxonomies and metadata schemes, style guides, etc.
- Identifies how content (e.g. web pages, social media, biogs, newsletters etc.) can underpin business goals and respond to user needs
- Defines key themes and messages, tone, content purpose, content gaps, SEO, content channels, workflows and governance of content for specific projects
- Analyses user feedback to help inform and improve content strategy
- Suggests solutions to ensure consistent and timely publication of content
- Identifies achievable success factors and measurement tools for content strategy
- Produces content strategy reports
- Capable of conducting analytic research on user surveys in Microsoft Excel
- Maintain a series of content inventories – screening existing content and updating the content inventory database
Knowledge and skills:
- Excellent knowledge of the emerging field of content strategy
- Good Interpersonal skills
- Excellent research, writing and reporting skills
- In-depth editorial knowledge on content modelling and creating Drupal content types (technical knowledge is not required)
- Very good knowledge on content strategy / SEO / user and business needs analysis
- Capable of writing guidelines, editorial briefs and reports for Senior Management
- Very good knowledge on the EU and its institutions – meaning being familiar with all the websites of the EC
- Being able to convert content models into tangible wireframes – be familiar with wireframe software such as Axure, Sketch and Omnigraffle
- Ability to deliver presentations
- Good communication skills
- Experience in user testing techniques (at least understand what the different techniques entails – so passive knowledge instead of in-depth knowledge)
- Capable of translating content needs into user experience concepts – therefor the capability of using wireframe (Sketch) and mind mapping (MindNode) software is a big asset
- A content strategist is the bridge between the information architect/user interface designer and the content person. Therefor the person should have a good knowledge from both worlds
Language skills:
- Very good command of English
- French is an asset
Education and Experience:
- University level education
- At least 4 years of professional experience within the type of work.
