The European Youth Forum (YFJ) is the Platform of Youth Organisations in Europe. Independent, democratic and youth-led, it represents more than 90 National Youth Councils and International Youth Organisations from across the Continent. The Youth Forum works to empower young people to participate actively in society to improve their own lives, by representing and advocating their needs and interests and those of their organisations towards the European Institutions, the Council of Europe and the United Nations.
In the framework of the European Youth Event 2016, the Forum is recruiting a Finance and Administrative Officer. The EYE will be organised by the Forum in cooperation with the European Parliament . It will take place on 20-21 May 2016 in Strasbourg. The event will comprise a large variety of activities in a political, social and cultural sense. It will gather around 8.000 young Europeans.
The successful candidate will work in the Financial and Administrative Department and will report to the Administrative & Financial Director.
TASKS
• Administer and process all invoices and reimbursements in an accurate and timely manner;
• Code and file all the financial supportive accounting documents;
• Process and monitor credit cards and petty cash transactions ;
• Actively participate to the periodical account closing process;
• Actively participate to the preparation of BNB annual financial report, the annual fiscal fiches “281.50” and special VAT tax return;
• Assist in the budgeting procedure when necessary;
• Assist in the EYE Event 2016 project team ;
• Actively participate to the preparation of periodical financial Reports of the EYE 2016 to the EU Institutions;
• Follow and ensure adherence to the YFJ Internal Financial Guidelines;
• Assist the Finance coordinator & the Administrative and Financial Director regarding other tasks where necessary;
• Provide general support to colleagues when needed;

PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
• Holds a degree in Accounting.
• Has a good knowledge of Belgian bookkeeping legislation; Belgian social and fiscal legislation;
• Has professional experience in accounting, in Belgium;
• Has the ability to work under pressure, with tight deadlines and flexible hours as well as work when required, on weekends;
• Able to travel when necessary;
SKILLS REQUIRED
• Ability to meet deadlines and achieve set goals.
• Attentive to details and able to prioritize work.
• Very good organisational, written and verbal communication skills.
• Fluent in English and French and good writing skills in both languages.
• Able to work under own initiative and as part of a team on a common project.
TERMS OF THE CONTRACT
The contract is a fixed-term contract foreseen between 1st September 2015 and the 31st August 2016. The contract is full-time (35 hours per week) and the gross salary is 2.200,00€. The European Youth Forum covers travel expenses within the Brussels region. Other benefits are available.
