ePURE is the association representing the European renewable ethanol industry. Their 24 member companies throughout 16 Member States account for around 90% of the installed renewable ethanol production capacity in Europe. Their ethanol is used in the fuel market, but also in the beverage and industrial markets.
Responsibilities
The intern in Government Affairs will be expected to assist in developing and implementing ePURE’s advocacy efforts towards EU institutions and relevant stakeholders.
Duties include:
-‐ Identifying and analysing opportunities and threats in the EU regulatory and policy framework, in particular in the field of energy and climate, transport, environment policies, trade and customs;
– Assisting in establishing/maintaining dialogue and ensure timely access to key decision-‐makers (notably the Council, Commission and Parliament) as well as other Brussels-‐based stakeholders (i.e. Permanent Representations, industry associations and members, international organizations, NGOs, think tanks);
– Collecting relevant information at the European Parliament, identifying relevant parliamentary developments or initiatives and informing colleagues of these developments and initiatives pro-‐ actively;
– Conducting policy research & analysis and evaluating the impact of existing/proposed EU legislation and developing the Association’s positions;
– Assisting in the definition of the appropriate response to these identified threats and opportunities, including devising and implementing advocacy plans;
– Representing ePURE externally upon request;
Required qualifications and skills
- A first experience in EU affairs, in EU institutions a plus;
- Masters degree in European policy, law or related field;
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the EU decision making process and Brussels arena;
- Strong analytical and research skills;
- Ability to convey complex issues in simple terms;
- Excellent English (written and spoken). Additional EU language(s) desirable.
