SOS Children’s Villages International is looking for a committed Legal & Compliance Advisor who will lead their activities in the awareness and prevention area, in particular anti-corruption prevention and compliance with related fields of law.
The Advisor will actively promote, communicate, and implement a culture of integrity and compliance at all levels of the federation that embraces integrity in their care programmes and other operations, consistent with SOS’ core values of courage, commitment, trust, and accountability. This includes providing subject matter expertise on compliance-related matters, partnering with internal stakeholders at all levels of the federation to drive the right behaviours through communication and training, and providing adequate policies, guidelines, tools, and processes to help ensure that the federation carries out its work in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, industry standards, internal policies and its key values. The Advisor will also support the International Director in all aspects of legal advice and counsel, specifically in the areas of corporate law, federation law and legal affairs as well as general contract law.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Design, distribute and/or deliver effective training and communications in a global, culturally diverse, and cross-functional environment

Advance the learning and development, policy, and communication activities for anticorruption compliance by collaborating with stakeholders in the federation to analyse needs and identify risks

Ensure knowledge management and sharing as well as the development of internal and external partnerships in order to promote integrity and compliance awareness

Develop and support integrity and compliance initiatives throughout the federation and keep the executive leadership and the member associations informed on key central initiatives and developments in the integrity and compliance programme

Actively engage the leadership teams in driving the tone from the top in integrity, and leveraging communication cascaded to the organization to maintain a high level of awareness in ethical business conduct

Support regular reporting obligations (assist in the completion and maintenance of various reports and report statistics/trends; coordinate the review, presentation and release of information as well as alignment with stakeholders; etc.)

Assist the International Director with development, implementation and update of global, compliance-related policies and guidelines owned by the unit as well as other departments

Generate and ensure transparency on the compliance liability exposure for the federation in connection with business partners acting in high-risk business environments and implement appropriate risk mitigation through effective business partner integrity management processes, standardized transactional reviews, contractual safeguards, etc.

Independent monitoring, review and analysis of legal and regulatory developments with possible impact on relevant compliance matters as well as best practice approaches

Provide independent advice, guidance and/or counsel regarding corporate and federation law and legal affairs, general contract law, and related fields of law

Manage special projects, as appropriate
Requirements:

Advanced degree in law, qualification to practice law

Special expertise and knowledge of anti-corruption laws, regulations and industry best practice

Proven work experience in legal services, consulting, compliance management, or similar (ideally two years or more) highly desired

Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills, including the ability to synthetize complex information into executive messages

Strong customer service mind-set combined with networking abilities, interpersonal skills and intercultural understanding

Strong research, listening and analytical skills; good judgement and common sense; results oriented

Advanced problem solving skills

Fluency in English, both verbally and in written form; German language skills a plus

Work effectively with Windows Office package to design policies, management documents, presentations, control databases, KPIs, and dashboards

Ability to work independently and to prioritize multiple demands

Sensitivity to confidential matters, ability to maintain and respect confidentiality
