The focus on the EU’s relations with its southern and eastern neighbours tends to shift depending on which Member State is holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. How important is it for the EU to maintain good relations with its neighbours and what are the benefits of a strong neighbourhood policy? Is the current EU policy “fit for purpose” or are we missing an opportunity?
