Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Context:
Under the overall guidance of the IOM Slovenia Chief of Mission, the overall supervision of Field Operations Assistant, and the direct supervision of the Migration Health Physician, the incumbent is responsible to support the provision of health services to vulnerable migrants and asylum seekers at transit points and border areas across Slovenia, ranging from emergency health care and stabilization, to referrals for secondary and tertiary care.
Required Competencies:

Perform nursing care for vulnerable migrants and asylum seekers identified and/or referred to IOM at transit points and border areas across Slovenia in close coordination with the Migration Health Physician.

Maintain an effective referral system with the public health system to ensure beneficiaries’ access to specialized care whenever needed or for emergency cases in close coordination with the Migration Health Physician.

Follow-up with individual treatment and ensure compliance to treatment during their transit period.

Complete individual medical reports for each migrant assisted, which include all results obtained at third-party medical facilities.

Ensure proper administration of medical data and activity reports.

Assist the Migration Health Physician in coordinating with local health authorities and partners in the implementation of activities within the Migration Health Programme in Slovenia.

Act as medical escort to migrants during diagnostic procedures and medical consultations carried out in hospitals and other clinics, as well as any other situation as required.

Verify the fitness to travel and medical documents of migrants prior to any IOM assisted transportation.

Ensure the confidentiality of all medical information related to beneficiaries.

Perform admin-finance duties related to implementation of migration health activities and the provision of health care to migrants.

Undertake other duties that may be assigned from time to time which are commensurate to the position.

Required Qualifications:
a) Degree in Nursing or Midwifery;
b) at least two years of clinical nursing/ midwifery practice; experience in public health and/or community health and health promotion an advantage;
c) experience in general counselling, good coordination and networking skills will be distinct advantages;
d) good communication skills, personal commitment, efficiency and flexibility;
e) ability to work with minimal supervision;
f) good level of computer literacy;
g) awareness of gender issues;
h) ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds;
i) willingness to travel and to work in difficult settings.
Languages:

Fluency in Slovenian and/or English required.

Working knowledge or fluency in one or more of the following languages: French, Arabic, Pashto, Urdu, and Dari is highly desirable.
