The Institute of Atmospheric and Cryospheric Sciences of the University of Innsbruck (formerly Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics) is seeking for a PhD student for the new research project “Atmospheric Downscaling for Glaciated mountain environments – DoG”.
Applicants should have a M.Sc. in meteorology, geosciences, physics or a related discipline, with strong background in mathematics and scientific computing, or a M.Sc. in mathematics or computer sciences with experience in the earth sciences. The successful candidate is self-dependent, yet able to carry out efficient team-work. S/he is fluent in English (German is welcome but not required), and has a disposition to publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
The employment is fixed-term for three years, with the salary according to the standards for research projects funded by the Austrian Science Fund (http://www.fwf.ac.at/en/research-funding/personnel-costs/). The starting time of the employment is flexible within the year of 2015.
