EUROCITIES, the network of major European cities, is looking for a policy advisor on social inclusion. The successful candidate for this position will work within the policy team under the supervision of the policy director at the EUROCITIES Brussels office. He/she would ideally start end of December 2016.
Job description
The policy advisor will be responsible for supporting EUROCITIES activities related to the implementation of social inclusion policies, with a specific focus on the role that cities play in the European Social Agenda. The main tasks include:
- contributing to the overall work and coordination of the social affairs forum
- providing policy support to a number of thematic working groups by preparing policy briefings, drafting policy papers, organising and co-chairing meetings
- organising capacity building activities with members, such as mutual learning events, peer reviews, study visits
- undertaking policy-oriented research such as identification and collection of good practices, preparing surveys and presenting their results
- preparing policy statements in negotiation with members and writing research papers
- organising and attending dissemination and advocacy activities, including seminars and workshops
- advocacy work with European institutions and other relevant stakeholders
- contributing to the monitoring, reporting and evaluation of the EaSi grant
- drafting project proposals and responses to EU calls and tenders

Knowledge

- good knowledge of local government
Experience
- a minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in social inclusion policies in the European context
- experience of policy-oriented research, including the ability to write and edit policy research papers
- experience of managing, coordinating and bidding for EU projects in social inclusion
- experience in coordinating forums, working groups and working in membership associations
- experience in EU advocacy and influencing EU institutions, and other relevant stakeholders
- experience in organising events and capacity building initiatives
- experience in working with politicians
Their offer
- an initial one year contract, renewable depending on future funds
- Salary range between €3,100 to €3,800 gross per month according to experience
