Reporting to the Director of Policy and Advocacy and working closely with other WaterAid staff in New York City and around the world, the Policy and Advocacy Officer will analyze new and existing bilateral and multilateral policies; prepare advocacy documents; research global health and international development issues and support the development and implementation of policy recommendations; and develop advocacy strategies and campaigns to help advance WaterAid’s goal of ensuring sustainable access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) for the world’s poorest and most marginalized people.
The majority of the Officer’s time will be focused on advancing WaterAid’s policy and advocacy strategy in collaboration with the Director of Policy and Advocacy, the CEO, and advocacy colleagues in WaterAid International’s 30 global offices. Approximately 30% of the Officer’s time will be focused on coordinating and supporting management of a large, multi-country sanitation advocacy project. The ideal candidate will be strategic, creative, independent, collaborative, and highly organized.
