In order to maximise the impact and the effectiveness of humanitarian aid financed by the European Commission, the thematic coordinator will aim at promoting DG ECHO policies and at ensuring operational coherence and consistency across the different areas of interventions.
The expert will provide support:
• as Global DRR Expert, ensuring the global thematic coordination worldwide in the area of DRR. To this end, the expert will work with the network of regional support offices to ensure a global view on the state of affairs related to nutrition. In conjunction with the Unit A4 – Specific Thematic Policies, s/he will be responsible for managing a Thematic Working Group related to DRR, coordinate contributions to it and ensure the implementation of the Group’s work plan.
• as Thematic Coordinator for the region/RSO facilitating effective dissemination of sector/thematic policies across the region and their coherent and consistent application
The thematic coordinator DRR is based in the RSO in Bangkok Thailand. S/He will be required to carry out regular missions at the request of ECHO Headquarters or to react to a current or evolving crisis in a particular country/region.
