Greenpeace is an international non-profit global campaigning organisation. Their independence and global reach enables us to stand for positive change through action in order to defend nature and promote peace. They investigate and expose global environmental problems, confront those in positions of power and present alternative solutions.
As one of their eight digital campaigners, you will develop and deliver strategic plans and digital communications for their campaigns, to encourage mass audiences to become involved in online or offline activism to help win Greenpeace campaigns. These strategies seek to deepen their relationship with existing supporters, as well as recruit new supporters.
They need a self-motivated individual who understands how digital tools can help influence the debate to bring about change. They are looking for someone who can grasp the issues, spot opportunities, and mobilise Greenpeace supporters to intervene in some of the most dynamic and important debates of our time.
In any given week your work will cover a wide range of topics, requiring you to work on one or more of our campaigns – to protect the Arctic, defend our oceans and protect the Earth’s ancient forests and stop climate change.
You’ll be great at spotting opportunities to intervene in the online debate about Greenpeace Campaigns, and be able to translate complex political, scientific and environmental information into succinct and clear messages that successfully reach new and existing supporters. As well as your communication, interpersonal skills and diplomacy, this role will test your ability to organise and improvise. You will need to be equally adept in facing and communicating with openly hostile audiences as with the passionately supportive. You will also have an understanding of the value of investigative work and of the role of mobilising people towards action.
You’ll believe in their aims and have significant and proven voluntary or paid experience in online organising, campaigning or communications.
You must be able to demonstrate that you are eligible to work in the UK
