The European Commission is currently looking for translators into English from two source languages, the first one of which must be one of the following: Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian or Swedish.
The second source language must be different from the first source language and can be any of the languages mentioned above or French, German, Italian or Spanish.
The Commission is organizing a selection procedure to constitute a list of approximately 25 successful candidates in order to fill future vacant translator posts (AD5 administrator level) within the English Language Department of the Directorate- General for Translation.
NATURE OF DUTIES
Successful candidates will be required to translate documents into English from at least two official EU languages. The first source language must be any of the following languages: Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian or Swedish. The second source language must be different from the first source language and can be any of the languages mentioned above or French, German, Italian or Spanish. The texts to be translated, which are often complex, generally deal with political, legal, economic/financial, scientific or technical subjects encompassing all the European Union’s areas of activity. Performing these tasks requires the intensive use of specific IT and related tools.

LEVEL AD5 (as an indication, basic monthly starting salary of EUR 4 423.53 to 4 609.41)
