The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is an international organisation promoting global monetary and financial stability and is a bank for central banks. The BIS’s head office is located in Basel, Switzerland, with representative offices in Hong Kong SAR and Mexico City. They are currently recruiting for a Valuation Controller to join the team responsible for the accuracy of the valuations of the Bank’s financial instruments (IPV).
Key responsibilities:
- Play a key role in the periodic independent verifications of the fair values of the Bank’s financial instruments.
- Contribute to developments of complex valuation adjustments/reserves, the Bank’s model validation activities and the analysis of the Bank’s financial performance.
- Maintenance and improvement of IT pricing infrastructure.
- Provide consulting on valuation, accounting and market-related issues for the Bank’s Management or the Finance department as required.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
- University degree in a quantitative discipline, such as finance, mathematics or physics
- Several years of experience in a valuations-related function (cross-asset class experience preferred).
- Deep knowledge of financial products and pricing models
- Strong Excel and Visual Basic skills. Knowledge of C++, Matlab or relevant pricing software would be an advantage.
- Experience of Bloomberg, Reuters and other information systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a good team worker. Able to work with little supervision and to organise and prioritise own work accordingly.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Excellent command of written and spoken English. Other major world languages a plus.
