Context:
Under the direct supervision of the Regional Thematic Specialist on Resettlement and Relocation and the overall supervision of the Senior Regional Emergency and Post Crisis Specialist, the incumbent will act as project assistant in the field of relocation and resettlement. In particular, s/he will perform the following duties:
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Assist in collecting, monitoring and consolidating data and information on relocation in Europe and resettlement to Europe;
- Assist with liaison with the IOM country offices in Europe and with DG HOME on relocation and resettlement
- Assist in the preparation of project reviews/updates to the European Commission
- Assist in the preparation and review of monthly updates and project reports in the field of relocation and resettlement from IOM field missions to the European Commission. This includes assisting in the review of report content, drafting of cover letters and update of relevant IOM databases;
- Assist in providing support to IOM field missions, specifically with information and updates in the area of relocation and resettlement and implementation of the relocation programme in line with European Council Regulations 2015/1523 and 2015/1601
- Assist in providing guidance to IOM’s resettlement & relocation focal points in Europe on resettlement and relocation processes in the EU and EC rules and regulations;
- Assist in resources mobilization by regularly reviewing relevant websites for new funding opportunities, relevant press releases and communications, as well as events that are of interest to IOM in the field of relocation and resettlement;
- Assist with knowledge management in the Regional Office on relocation and resettlement
- Assist in the organization of meetings and events
- Attend unit meetings, external partner meetings, and/or thematic seminars and conferences and take notes when required;
- Assist in drafting messages/summary of relevant EC documentation, regularly updating the IOM Regional Office Brussels webpage and assist in drafting of communication for IOM Resettlement and Relocation focal points;
- Any other tasks as may be required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- University degree in Political Sciences, Migration Studies, International Relations or Law, with two years of relevant professional experience, preferably in similar roles;
- OR
- Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with four years of relevant professional experience.Experience
- First professional experience in the field of EU liaison, preferably in the field of emergency & post-crisis or asylum and migration is a requirement;
- Excellent drafting and reporting skills is a requirement
- Excellent knowledge of EU institutions, EU decision-making and EU budget rules and procedures is an advantage
- Experience in project cycle management is an advantage;
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
- Specific trainings in the field of humanitarian aid and post-crisis is an asset.
Languages
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French and of any other regional language is an advantage.
